Columbus Blue Jackets Career Day

Career Day at the Columbus Blue Jackets is set for October 19, 2017. Here are the details:
The annual DECA & BPA Day with the Blue Jackets will be held on Thursday, October 19th, 2017. Please keep in mind this event is not only for DECA & BPA students, but open to business and marketing students in general.

The event costs $29 per person and will run from 1-4 PM with check-in beginning at 12:15 PM.. It will consists of three segments; a movie on our founder, John McConnell and the team, an on-ice open skate and a Q&A speaker panel with professionals in the business and marketing industries.

From 4:00 – 6:00 PM the arena turns over for that evening’s game so please refer to the restaurant list attached with recommendations within walking distance. At 6:00 PM you are welcomed back into the arena for the Columbus Blue Jackets game vs. Tampa Bay Lightning at 7:00 PM.

The first five DECA & first five BPA schools to sign-up will get to have two of their students each participate in our High-Five Tunnel where they get to high-five the players as they go out onto the ice!

We do have some new security policies in place this season. There is a brand new bag policy. I have attached the updated size of acceptable bags that can enter the arena for the game portion. If you plan on bringing in any larger tote/drawstring/purse bags into the arena during the day program please note that I will need a head count of how many bags you will be bringing. I do understand a lot of advisers bring medical forms with them. I just need to have an accurate number of bags being brought into the building to give security a heads up. These bags will need to go back on a bus prior to entering for that evening’s game.

In addition, to avoid congestion at check-in and make sure all forms are filled out thoroughly we are asking for the On-Ice waiver to be signed in advance of the day and brought in with you day of or you can send them in with your order. I have attached the waiver above for you to begin working on. You and/or the parents will need to sign the parent/guardian spot on the form.

If you already plan on bringing a group to the event, please shoot me an email back to confirm attendance, and if you can, provide an approximate number of attendees. The deadline to submit a PO and/or your payment is Friday, October 6th!

I will be making speaker panelists asks within the next week. If you have any suggestions of industry professionals or topics you’d like to see covered at this year’s event please let me know. Any other questions or concerns feel free to give me a call at 614-246-3976 or email me at
