First-Ever Virtual State Leadership Conference

Students from all over the state of Ohio participated in the first ever virtual Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference April 20th-24th.   Members competed in the Workplace Skills Assessment Program (WSAP) in the areas of finance, business administration, management information systems, digital communication and design, and management, marketing and communications. Students competed by giving virtual presentations using UberConference, taking online objective tests using Answer Write, and completing Microsoft Office application/production assignments.

As part of the Virtual Awards Ceremony, the Ohio Association recognized six local chapters for performing outstanding service-learning activities and participating in the BPA Cares Program. Additionally, Business Professionals of America partners with Special Olympics to bring awareness to the organization’s mission.  Greenville High School was awarded the Volunteer Service Award for donating more than 5,500 volunteer hours and $10,000 to Special Olympics Ohio.  As an organization, the Ohio Association donated more than 6,000 volunteer hours and $28,538.65 as the result of special and longstanding fundraising efforts by local chapters.

The Ohio Association also released a virtual Torch Awards Ceremony, which recognized 205 Ohio Association members who earned the Statesman Torch Award.  The Statesman Torch Award is given to a member “who is a leader in the promotion of public good and national affairs” and is earned by completing activities that promote overall professionalism and leadership.

The courage of the student members and the generous support of the organization’s partners made the 2020 State Leadership Conference successful. Congratulations Ohio!
