The Business Professionals of America, Ohio Association, State Leadership Conference brings together competitors, business and industry partners, advisors, and vendors to provide an opportunity for Ohio career-technical education students to showcase their development of leadership skills and career-related competencies. The Workplace Skills Assessment Program (WSAP) events, state officer elections, and Torch Award Ceremony are highlights of the conference.
Involvement in Business Professionals of America will enhance social awareness, civic responsibility, and understanding of the business community. The State Leadership Conference (SLC) is the highlight of the Ohio Association year, and helps more than 2,000 members accomplish these objectives.
COVID 19 Update: The health and safety of members, volunteers, and vendors remains the association’s highest priority. Amidst growing concerns about the accelerate spread of the coronavirus, the Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to host the 2021 State Leadership Conference Virtually.

The State Leadership Conference (SLC) is the most anticipated event of the Ohio BPA
year. The goal of the Workplace Skills Assessment Program is to provide student members the opportunity to demonstrate workplace skills achieved in their career-technical programs. Competitive events enable students to:
- Broaden knowledge, skills, and attitudes
- Demonstrate career-based competencies
- Expand leadership and human relations skills
- Demonstrate a competitive spirit
- Receive recognition
- Earn industry certification
Competition begins at the regional level. Students prepare for and compete in one or more of 60 events in five career pathways:
- Business Administration
- Management Information Systems
- Digital Communication & Design
- Management, Marketing & Communication
Top regional qualifiers advance to State, and finally, those deemed the best of the best advance to the National Leadership Conference. Competition includes both individual and team events.
